Philly has a wealth of talent in all artistic genres. That said, we make it a point to support as many different artists as possible at each event.
This year, we are providing you with the grooviest soundscape for your chili-eating shenanigans – we have the big homie PS3. Known for eclectic, international and back-pack grooves that pack Bob and Barbara’s every Friday night, PS3 is vet in the Philadelphia musical arts. Whether promoting salsa concerts for renowned bands, to providing marketing acumen to the Painted Bride Art Center and other local arts organizations, PS3 is a multi-talented man about town and we are super excited to have him lending a hand…and an ear to this years Philly Chili Bowl’s 1’s and 2’s.
While you unwind after work or get in your creative zone while cutting veggies for your chilli, rock out to PS3’s Pura Vida Soundcloud above.
DJ Low Budget, or Low Beezy, is a music aficionado and it shows in his music selection and style. He studies, he reads and he rocks crowds like no other. We are excited and honored to have the legendary Dj Low Budget provide the soundtrack for Philly Chili Bowl 5! So Hype!!
As much fun as my friends and I used to have at White T’s White Belts, Jump N Funk or any house party where DJ Phsh was spinning, my most dear and most memorable Philly party moments come from the epic Thursday night parties at the 700 club with Low Budget on the wheels. Simply amazing. If you are between 29-35, you know what I’m talking about.
What is even more exciting about Low Budget joining us on Sunday is that this year’s competition will be held at the very place where Low Budget and his then partner Diplo started Hollertronix, one of he most notorious shakedowns ever in the city of Philadelphia. This Sunday at the 5th Annual Philly Chili Bowl you definitely will enjoy good music (thank you Low Beezy), good food, good people…a good way to welcome the spring!
PS: if you need a Workout before the Philly Chili Bowl head to Silk City Diner this Friday night to see him in action with fellow turntable titan Bo Bliz!!
Philly Chili Bowl’s hostess with the mostess
If you were to look for AfroDJiak, in the party, you would probably find her rocking out in the DJ booth, bobbing her head, probably scratching, and making her hands do that wiki, wiki, wiki thing deejays do. However, at our 5th Annual Philly Chili Bowl, the wiki, wiki transforms to chili, chili when the deejay/radio personality emerges from behind the booth to host, provide spicy commentary, and present our coveted, one-of-a-kind trophy to the winner(s.)
Raised in the DC Metro area and calling our city home, AfroDJiak has been a constant fixture in the Philly nightlife scene for several years. Her creative standout mixes such as last month’s Fock Luve V.2, have propelled her to being one of the most sought after turntablists, spinning numerous high profile film and music festivals like, The Root’s Picnic, and Wawa’s Welcome America 4th of July celebration. Her exceptional mixing skills, extensive knowledge of music, engineering, stage, and music production have also allowed her to spin opening sets for artists such as Black Thought, The Cool Kids, The Money Makin’ Jam Boys, Freeway, and Wale to name a few. But we don’t need to name drop to tell you she’s good, just come out March 23rd and see for yourself!

To get your Labor Day dance on, while sucking on a chicken bone – we recruited and are excited to rock-out with the Queen Bee of the turntables – DJ Ultraviolet – for Wing King 5!! What, what!?!
Leader of her our digital record label, Bee Eater Records, this skilled female DJ has been killing the Philly music scene for years – notably her party (with the Legendary Monie Love) called Ladies Love Hip Hop.
Sharing the decks and stage with Philly hard-hitters such as DJ Scratch, 9th Wonder, Questlove, Jean Grae, Spinderella, Large Professor, Rich Medina and Q-Tip to name a few, this lady friend of ours knows how to get you moving and grooving. Trust us, this woman knows her music and knows how to get that foot of yours tapping.
So prep your bellies – but mostly prep your moves, because we are going to rock-out, Labor Day-style with the lovely, talented and swaggerific DJ UV!
This just in! DJ 2 Tone Jones is coming back from DC to spin at the 4th Annual Philly Chili Bowl! If you were at Wing King 2012 or just about anywhere in the DC area when 2 Tone was on the turntables, you know that we are all in for a treat…but this time more than you think!
Aside from his delectable musical selections, 2 Tone AKA Lester Wallace III is a Pastry Chef! That’s right, when he is not mining for rare vinyl and rocking parties up and down the east coast he is in the kitchen baking sweet potato pies. These are not just regular pies either. Phonte of rap group Little Brother, Producer 9th Wonder and J Dilla’s Mother Maureen Yancey are frequent customers that can cosign the sweet perfection of Pie King sweet potato pie and rum cake. Pies, cakes and cookies will be available for purchase at this year’s Philly Chili Bowl. Learn more and place orders here.
DJ 2-Tone Jones has spun with, and alongside, the likes of DJ Premier, Jazzy Jeff, Mista Sinista (formerly of the X-ecutioners), Tony Touch, 9th Wonder, DJ Babu, and even Dick Gregory just to name a few. If you like food and music this will be an epic night. Come hungry and bring your sweet tooth.
